Tyrannosaurus rex: Tooth (v2)
Part of the APEX PREDATORS Exhibit
Late Cretaceous Period, approx. 68-66 million years ago
1:1 Scale Tooth Replica
SPECIMEN PROFILE
Tyrannosaurus rex teeth were among the most formidable biological tools in the terrestrial fossil record. Each tooth was thick, heavily reinforced, and deeply rooted within a skull designed to withstand extreme bite forces. Unlike the blade-like teeth of earlier theropods, T. rex teeth were built for crushing, puncturing, and processing bone-rich carcasses with exceptional efficiency.
Throughout its life, T. rex continuously replaced its teeth, meaning no two were ever identical in wear or function. These teeth were not only hunting instruments but also feeding tools capable of reducing large prey into consumable fragments. Their robust morphology reflects an apex predator adapted to fully exploit every available nutrient in its environment.
COLLECTOR & CURATOR NOTE
A direct fragment of the most powerful bite apparatus in terrestrial history—this T. rex tooth reflects a bone-crushing adaptation unmatched among known theropods.
