    SPECIMEN PROFILE

Psittacosaurus sibiricus was an early ceratopsian dinosaur that inhabited the cooler, forested environments of Early Cretaceous Siberia. It represents a larger, northern regional form within the broader Psittacosaurus lineage, adapted to more temperate, seasonally variable ecosystems than its desert-dwelling relatives.

Like other members of its genus, it possessed a compact body, strong hindlimbs, and a beak-like snout adapted for cropping low vegetation. However, its skeletal proportions and robust build suggest potential adaptations for harsher climatic conditions, including more rugged terrain and seasonal resource availability. It likely lived in social groups, using herd behavior as a primary defense strategy against small to medium-sized predators.

    COLLECTOR & CURATOR NOTE

One of the largest northern-adapted early ceratopsians from the Early Cretaceous, illustrating the ecological breadth of Psittacosaurus across varied prehistoric environments.
