    SPECIMEN PROFILE

Lambeosaurus lambei was a crested hadrosaurid herbivore that inhabited the lush floodplains and coastal lowlands of Late Cretaceous North America. Living in large migratory herds, it relied on social structure, vocal communication, and group movement to thrive within predator-rich ecosystems.

Its most defining feature was the large hollow cranial crest extending from the top of the skull. This crest likely functioned as both a visual display structure and a resonating chamber for vocalization, allowing individuals to communicate across long distances within herds. Beneath this elaborate ornamentation, Lambeosaurus possessed highly efficient dental batteries capable of processing large quantities of fibrous vegetation, making it one of the dominant herbivores of its environment.

    COLLECTOR & CURATOR NOTE

A crest-bearing hadrosaurid distinguished by its elaborate hollow cranial crest—combining advanced social signaling and vocal adaptation within one of the most recognizable herbivore lineages of the Late Cretaceous.
