Bambiraptor feinbergi
Part of the RAPTORS & HUNTERS Exhibit
Late Cretaceous Period, approx. 75-722 million years ago
1:1 Scale Skull Replica
SPECIMEN PROFILE
Bambiraptor feinbergi was a small, lightly built dromaeosaurid from the Late Cretaceous of North America, adapted for agility, coordination, and rapid predatory movement. Its anatomy reflects a highly mobile hunter, with elongated forelimbs, grasping hands, and a stiffened tail that provided balance during fast directional changes.
Unlike the massive apex predators of its time, Bambiraptor occupied a smaller ecological niche, likely targeting insects, small vertebrates, and juvenile prey. Its skeletal proportions reveal advanced dexterity and relatively enlarged brain capacity for a non-avian dinosaur, offering important insight into the evolutionary relationship between dromaeosaurs and modern birds.
COLLECTOR & CURATOR NOTE
A highly agile dromaeosaurid with bird-like skeletal adaptations—representing one of the clearest evolutionary links between predatory dinosaurs and modern avian anatomy.
